Petsville Purchase Policy
BIRDS
Live birds purchased from PetsVille follow the subsequent policy:
- There is a 3-day purchase policy – see clause 1.
- There is a 4-week warranty in case of unforeseen illness or death, where it can be proved that PetsVille is at fault – see clause 2.
1. Three-Day Purchase Policy
All birds must be carefully chosen; however, within 3 days of purchase, if you are not satisfied with your birds for genuine reasons, PetsVille will accept a return and refund 50% of the purchase price as per the conditions listed below:
- Livestock/birds have to be in the same healthy or identical condition as when purchased
- Non-hand-raised birds have NOT had their wings clipped
- Proof of purchase, i.e., original purchase receipt
- In the case of a deceased bird, an Avian Vet report is required, stating that PetsVille is unequivocally at fault and presenting the bird itself so that PetsVille can obtain a second opinion.
- PetsVille will not accept livestock/birds purchased at other shops or online, swapped birds from home aviaries, or be responsible for customers' Vet fees.
PetsVille is not liable, responsible, or able to offer a refund for purchased birds that have had an accident-causing illness or death once they have left the PetsVille shop. When a bird has left the PetsVille premises and has been transported, freighted, and placed in the new owner's environment, the bird's well-being, health, breeding problems, sickness, or ailments are transferred to the new owner. The new owner is responsible for the bird/birds once they are out of PetsVille's care.
Please note: PetsVille stocks health care, medicines, and good advice for most Avian ailments, and the highly qualified Team can refer customers to Avian Vets if necessary.
2. Four-Week Warranty Period
There is a 4-week warranty period for unforeseen illness or death if PetsVille is proven responsible. Customers will need to prove they have abided by PetsVille purchase agreements, which include the recommendation and requirement to take your bird to an Avian Vet within a week of purchase for a health check, including blood tests.
If a bird becomes ill after purchase, it must be reported to the PetsVille team immediately, which will assess the bird. If it is subsequently proved to have had a prior illness before purchase, PetsVille will replace the bird, medicate the bird, or offer medicine and treatment for the bird if the management chooses.
Under no circumstances is PetsVille liable to pay customers' Vet fees and/or associated costs. In the case of a deceased bird, PetsVille will need immediate notification and may require an Avian Vet report and postmortem (necropsy) report stating that PetsVille is unequivocally at fault. PetsVille is not responsible or liable for any Vet fees or costs incurred.
PetsVille must be contacted as soon as there is any bird-related problem.
In the case of a bird dying within the 4-week health warranty period from the date of the purchase receipt, PetsVille requires, within 2 days of death, the following:
- A necropsy (postmortem) and report from an Avian Veterinarian showing the bird's ID, leg ring, or Microchip number (if applicable) that states PetsVille is unequivocally at fault
- Proof of purchase, i.e., original purchase receipt
- Presentation of the deceased bird (as PetsVille may need a second opinion)
For any claim or replacement to be processed and accepted by PetsVille, the report must show the bird died from an underlying health issue only, not through an accident, e.g., broken neck, stress from other animals or children, picking up a bacterial infection, attack by vermin or metal poisoning from their new aviary/environment, etc.
PetsVille will not be held responsible for any bird purchased through us with clipped wings that manage to fly away. Clipping wings does not restrict flying; some birds can still master flying, so be mindful. Wing clipping is a precaution to reduce flight speed and isn't designed to stop flight.
IMPORTANT
All birds are precious and delicate and require love and care. They are wonderful pets; however, some may become ill because of adverse climate, diet issues, fright, stress, rough handling, too much handling by many children, or boredom, so special care is required.
When you bring a bird to a new environment, it should ideally be isolated from other birds at its new home for at least two weeks before being placed in a new aviary. Care and due diligence are very important.
Remember, there is always a risk for anyone who deals with livestock; if you ever have any concerns about your bird, please bring it in for us to look at or take it straight to the vet. A comprehensive care guide and instructions are free of charge on our website.
Birds give enormous love and are wonderful company; their care is worth it. We thank you for supporting small businesses by purchasing from PetsVille.
OTHER SMALL ANIMALS
PetsVille sells animals other than birds; if so, the same policy applies.

DISCLAIMER
On Entry to PetsVille, all owners of any animal brought into PetsVille agree to be solely and financially liable for their pet. This includes any acts of behavior of their pet, including wing trimming, administering medication, nail trimming, leg ring removal, beak trimming, pet minding, or any bird/animal handling of any kind in-store by our Team.
This may include, but is not limited to, injury or death to a pet, injury or death to another pet(s), or injury or death to any individual pet getting services in our store. Our Team will always take extra care when trimming nails, trimming the wing beak, removing the leg ring, or boarding.
Some enclosures used as carriers increase a pet's risk of injury and stress due to the difficulty of removing it from the enclosure. If you are unsure of the pet carrier you use, please ask one of our senior staff members.
Nail, wing, and beak trimming, ring removal, and general handling/grooming can expose a hidden medical problem or aggravate a current one. The stress of grooming may cause latent, unknown, active, or inactive conditions.
If PetsVille believes your pet's medical problem is serious and the owner is not on site, we will seek medical attention for your pet at your expense.
Pet owners, by getting your pet's wing trimmed, administering medication, nail trimming, leg ring removal, beak trimming, pet minding, or any bird/animal handling of any kind in-store, you agree not to hold PetsVille liable for any vet fees or loss. We do not take financial responsibility for animals not owned by PetsVille.
SERVICES
Wing Clipping
PetsVille will not be held responsible or liable for any bird purchased through us with clipped wings that manage to fly away. Clipping wings does not restrict flying; some birds can still master flying. Wing clipping is a choice and is mainly advised for the bird's safety. Some owners may train their birds to fly and return to their cages. However, this requires much dedication. Most of PetsVille's hand-raised birds have their wings clipped whilst learning to fly in the shop environment and for training purposes. The PetsVille team specialises in wing clipping and provides this service at a small charge.
Nail Clipping
PetsVille offers a nail-clipping service. However, it is a delicate procedure, and bleeding can occur, depending on the bird's health. PetsVille will not be held responsible or liable if a bird bleeds during a nail clipping procedure, as some birds have conditions that cause excessive growth in the nail from poor nutrition or other contributing factors, which, in rare cases, can make some bleeding very hard to avoid.
Bird Boarding
PetsVille offers climate-controlled bird boarding with the utmost care. However, PetsVille will not be held responsible or liable in the unlikely event of an accident, illness, injury, or death of your bird/s whilst in the care of PetsVille. Boarding of bird/s at PetsVille will be done at the owners' own risk, and owners are to take full responsibility for their bird/s and their health.
If any bird is left for 15 days beyond the estimated pick-up date without contact with PetsVille from the bird's owner, the bird will be deemed abandoned and become PetsVille's property. PetsVille cannot be held responsible for any vet fees before, during, or after boarding at the facility.
